Percentage Calculator is a very simple tool used to relieve you of doing a task of calculating percentages. We need to do it surprisingly often – when we calculate a tip, a store discount or salary raise. Usually in such situations a simple calculator would do, but we’d rather not be disturbed by having to think of an exact formula to use. Enter Percentage Calculator.

This tool presents you with a four related formulas, each of them consists of 3 editable fields, for example [x]% of [y] is [z]. Fill in any two of those fields and the third one will be automatically calculated for you. At the same time, all fields in the remaining three formulas (another example: “fraction [x] / [y] is the same as [z]%”) will be “solved”.

It’s that simple – go to the site, choose any two fields and enter your numbers. The tool offers some more functionality – for example once you solve some problem, you are given a link to this result, which can be given to your friend, who just asked you “what’s 23% of 13?” for the hundredth time.

Applications are countless, whether you want to use it for school, work or day-to-day tasks. Here are a few use cases:
* You go to a shoe store and see a huge poster telling you that everything is 20% off the sticker price. You fancy a pair of pink rubber boots which cost 65 dollars before the discount. But how much are they now? The third sentence in the tool reads: [x] is a [y]% decrease from [z]. Fill in “y” and “z” and you’ll see that 20% decrease from 65 is 52.
* A math teacher tell you to convert a fraction to percentages. The fraction is 34/57. The second sentence (The fraction [x] / [y] equals [z]%) is here to help. The result is 59.6.
* You ate a delicious lunch at a restaurant. The waiter was very nice and you would like to say “thank you” with a 15% tip. The bill says you owe the restaurant owner 32 dollars, but it does not cover the service. Go again to the third sentence and click on “decrease” – the link now says “increase”. A few keyboard strokes and you know that 15% increase from 32 is 36.8.

The fun part is that all four sentences are related to each other and they are solved on the fly – just as you provide your numbers in any given one. Try it, it’s amusing!

The site is also rich in easy-to-follow lessons on how to calculate percentage, percentage increase or decrease and some more advanced topics such as percentage points (yes, you can be one of those people who become annoyed when others confuse them with regular percentages).
